Senior Instructional Designer

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 base

Location: Remote (South Africa)

Role Overview

Our client is transitioning from a hardware provider to a SaaS-led fleet safety leader. We are seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to own the creation of mobile-first, data-driven training for commercial drivers. This is a hands-on role focused on translating telematics data into interactive modules that drive real behavior change on the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Learning Design: Create 10–15-minute microlearning modules focused on behavior change (fatigue, distraction, harsh driving) rather than just knowledge transfer.
• H5P Development: Directly build interactive content in H5P (Interactive Video, Branching Scenarios, Quizzes) optimized for mobile.
• Content Ownership: Lead the full lifecycle from scriptwriting and scenario design to deployment and iteration.
• Freelance Management: Brief and manage external designers and developers to scale the content pipeline.
• AI Integration: Use AI tools to accelerate drafting and workflow efficiency.
• Product Collaboration: Work with the data/telematics teams to align training with real-world driver risks.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years in Instructional Design or eLearning.
• Technical Skill: Expert-level H5P skills (ability to show personal builds is mandatory).
• Mobile-First Focus: Proven experience in scenario-based, microlearning design for mobile devices.
• Communication: Excellent written English with a practical, engaging scripting style.
• Independence: Ability to take full ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

• Experience in safety/compliance training.
• Experience designing for non-corporate audiences (drivers, field workers).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted content creation.
