Location

Our client hires with a focus on EMEA and the Middle East. For this role, preference is given to candidates who are either based in the region or able to work remotely within ±4 hours of Gulf Standard Time.

The Role

Techfocus Recruitment is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role suited to someone with a strong execution mindset and a passion for innovation in Web3.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising smart contracts and blockchain infrastructure. The role requires a pragmatic problem solver who can operate effectively in a fast-moving crypto environment while maintaining high standards of security, performance, and code quality.

You will work closely with product leadership, product teams, and other engineers to deliver secure and scalable DeFi solutions. A strong belief in decentralisation and open-source development is important for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise blockchain product architecture with a focus on scalability, security, and performance
• Lead the development, auditing, and integration of smart contracts within decentralised protocols
• Conduct technical research and proof-of-concept work, applying best practices in blockchain engineering
• Develop and improve cross-chain interoperability solutions, including swaps and bridges
• Design and implement efficient algorithms with a strong emphasis on gas optimisation
• Define and maintain effective CI/CD processes for blockchain development
• Identify, analyse, and mitigate potential attack vectors and security risks
• Stay current with emerging blockchain, Web3, and crypto technologies
• Perform thorough code reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce engineering best practices
• Collaborate with external auditors and cross-functional teams to support successful product launches

Requirements

• 6 + years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in blockchain engineering
• Strong understanding of blockchain ecosystems, smart contracts (Solidity, Yul, EVM), and decentralised applications
• Hands-on experience with Ethereum, Layer 2 solutions and cross-chain protocols
• Proven experience in technical leadership, architectural decision-making, and mentoring engineers
• Solid background in blockchain security and experience with smart contract audits

Skills

• Proficiency in Solidity, Yul, Rust, and TypeScript
• Experience with smart contract development and deployment frameworks
• Strong knowledge of DeFi primitives including AMMs, liquidity pools, and oracle integrations
• Deep understanding of blockchain security principles and audit methodologies
• Experience building high-performance, distributed systems
