Job Summary
Our client, a leading design and engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Principal ICA Engineer to join their team. In this role, you'll be responsible for every aspect of instrumentation and control/automation engineering within transformational programmes that support critical UK infrastructure.
You will lead design teams, manage technical deliverables, and work on a range of projects across industries like Water, Aviation, Defence, and Energy. You'll be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge solutions while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
This role is based in the Birmingham office, with opportunities for flexible and remote working.
Experience
- Chartered Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer.
- Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
- Knowledge ICA design (instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems), motor control systems, system architecture, fieldbus/communication networks, P&ID’s, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, development of control specifications (URS/FDS), schedules and system requirements within process/industrial environment.
- Experience in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following applicable standards, working practices and national guidance.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
- Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
- Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
- Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.
