Job Summary
Our client, a leader in the water industry, is seeking a Senior Estimator in London to lead civil engineering estimates.
You’ll work with the tender team to develop customer solutions, ensuring estimates align with company systems and securing projects that meet business objectives.
Experience
- Engineering or commercial background
- HNC or equivalent in a related Engineering qualification
- Experience in water and civil.
- Proven track record working on tenders ranging up to 50m.
- Numerate and IT literate, familiar with estimating software and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
- Chartered, incorporated status or similar
- Confidence in dealing with customers and personnel within the company at a senior level.
- Ability to ensure all tender submissions are both feasible and profitable.
- Knowledge of wastewater, rail, or the tunnelling sector (Desirable).
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage estimates in accordance with company procedures.
- Oversee a team of estimators for large tenders, mentoring junior staff.
- Identify opportunities and risks during the tender process.
- Collaborate with the Bid Manager and Planner to finalize methodology and principles.
- Maintain a register of key assumptions and the tender estimate file.
- Provide pricing support for business development.
- Gather site team feedback on estimating accuracy and current costs.
- Present estimates at adjudication and prepare
- Present basis of estimate, assumptions, and document adjudication meetings.
- Close out actions and monitor customer negotiations, adjusting authority as needed.
- Handover to site teams upon contract award and prepare estimating handover packs.
- Provide ongoing support to site teams on estimates and assumptions.
