Job Summary
Our Client, a leading contractor in Energy, Oil & Gas, is looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join their team in Wokingham. In this role, you will assist the Electrical Project Management team in driving the successful delivery of projects related to monitoring systems across the Energy sector, including Oil, Gas, and Renewables. You will offer engineering support while working closely with a multidisciplinary team and engaging with clients throughout all stages of the project, from design to delivery and on-site installation.
Experience
- Will accept project experience in Rail, Energy, Oil & Gas. - Experience of Testing & Commissioning. - Ability to work under pressure during project delivery and offshore installations. - Strong troubleshooting skills during system integration and installation. - Organized, with experience managing complex schedules and high workloads. - Team player with excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with all levels. - Proven ability to drive projects from initiation to completion. - Engineering degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering. - Experience with electrical and mechanical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics. - Hands-on experience with PLCs, communications protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Modbus), and RF systems (GNSS). - Familiar with system integration testing (SIT) and client interaction. - Computer literate with knowledge of Windows OS, hardware, and diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.). - Background in manufacturing, hardware, or electronics preferred. - Understanding of Health & Safety regulations, mechanical knowledge beneficial.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical point of contact between customers, suppliers, project management, and internal engineering teams, ensuring technical oversight throughout the project.
- Facilitate client and supplier meetings while minimizing the involvement of specialist engineering teams to keep them focused on engineering tasks.
- Ensure clear communication of customer requirements to the relevant engineering teams.
- Provide technical support to the project manager, assisting with project-related challenges.
- Work alongside project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget, updating on progress, risks, client requests, and any issues.
- Offer hands-on technical support during assembly and system testing (FAT, SFAT), including troubleshooting and test plan creation.
- Resolve technical problems during FAT/SFAT processes.
- Manage documentation control in compliance with internal processes and ISO9001 standards.
- Interact with clients to fully understand their requirements, including occasional site visits.
- Oversee the on-site installation and commissioning of systems, which may require offshore trips (20-30 days per year), while collaborating with internal teams and third-party stakeholders.
- Provide on-site training to Service Engineers and support commissioning in offshore or offsite environments.
- Collaborate with the product technology department during the manufacturing and testing of system components.
- Assist project managers in preparing progress reports, GANTT charts, and other project-related documentation.
- Support internal testing activities and help generate associated documentation, such as test reports and risk assessments.
- Assist the Management Team with other tasks as needed, based on individual expertise.
