Job Summary
Our client, a leading company in the Water industry, is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working on Water and Infrastructure projects.
Experience
- Experience of working on projects in either Water, Rail or Highways - HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying. - Knowledge of ICE/NEC contracts and a solid understanding of Construction Law. - Background in commercial management, including procurement of subcontractors, leading regular meetings, managing measurement and control cycles, preparing certificates, and calculating accruals. - Proficiency in monthly reporting and earned value analysis. - Experience in cost estimation and analysis. - Strong communication, numeracy, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. - Excellent organisational and time management abilities, capable of working to tight deadlines. - Able to work well in a team and delegate effectively, while also being able to work independently when necessary.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of costs and value at both project and business unit levels, including cash flow reporting and cost forecasting.
- Update monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation), cost, and commercial plans.
- Ensure adherence to internal commercial processes and actively seek improvements.
- Maintain a solid understanding of processes within any joint venture or alliance, contributing to their development and enhancement.
- Verify that contracts entered into with clients reflect terms and conditions that align with company interests and identify associated commercial risks.
- Ensure the supply chain is engaged with appropriate contract terms and conditions.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Manage subcontract letting, negotiations, and financial oversight.
- Prepare payment applications and liaise with clients and third parties regarding variations, claims, and additional payments.
- Collaborate with site management to forecast spending and cash recovery, ensuring alignment with target budgets.
- Promote best practices and offer guidance to site teams on cost management.
- Achieve accurate monthly forecasting and challenge resources and costs effectively.
- Meet deadlines according to the monthly commercial calendar.
