Job Summary
Our client, a leading engineering company, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join their team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering projects from conception to completion.
Experience
- Extensive experience in managing projects with Heavy Civils, Water Treatment and Bridge works. - Any experience/interface on Rail projects would be advantageous - Solid understanding of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, and both programme and risk management. - Proficiency in cost control, including forecasting, actual cost tracking, and value reporting. - Experience with Primavera P6 or similar project management software. - Relevant qualifications such as a degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). - CSCS manager’s card and SMSTS certification required. - Strong knowledge of the NEC contract, specifically regarding Early Warning and Compensation Event procedures. - Demonstrated ability to challenge designs and find solutions to complex issues. - Capable of managing and delivering successful projects with minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and control project costs, including producing financial forecasts and monthly performance reports for the Contracts Manager.
- Oversee projects from design phase through to completion, ensuring all handover documentation is completed.
- Review project progress, resources, and planning, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Clarify work packages, ensuring scope of work is well-defined and understood by all parties.
- Chair weekly site meetings, ensuring accurate documentation of discussions and actions.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and design consultants.
- Develop and manage construction programmes, coordinating with staff as necessary.
- Oversee site investigations during construction to ensure smooth progress.
- Develop cost-effective engineering solutions that meet the client’s needs while staying within budget.
- Ensure that project plans, risk assessments, method statements, and procurement are in line with company procedures.
- Ensure detailed site diaries and records are maintained.
- Drive cost efficiency, challenging assumptions and driving down unnecessary expenses.
- Prepare estimates for additional work outside of agreed target costs.
- Assist with estimating and tendering for new projects and chase potential new clients.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and company procedures.
