The Opportunity

Oxygen 8 Recruitment has been retained by a global leader in clinical education to appoint a Director, Medical Education. This is a high-impact, science-led business development role designed for an expert who can sit across from a Medical Director or a Head of Global Medical Affairs and speak their language. Our client doesn't just "sell" programmes; they identify clinical gaps and design sophisticated Independent Medical Education (IME) and CME interventions that solve them.If you are a scientist by training but a strategist by trade, this is your opportunity to lead the commercial and scientific growth of a premier educational powerhouse. The RoleAs Director, Medical Education, your primary mission is to bridge the gap between complex clinical data and educational funding. You will lead the scientific identification of "unmet educational needs" and translate them into commercially viable, grant-funded programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deep-dive into clinical trial data, congress outputs, and therapeutic landscapes to identify where HCP knowledge gaps are impacting patient outcomes.
  • Lead the proactive pursuit of IME/CME funding by building high-level, peer-to-peer relationships with Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Development teams.
  • Architect and oversee the submission of scientifically rigorous grant proposals that align with supporter educational strategies while maintaining strict independence.
  • Act as a credible scientific partner to clients, advising on the educational "storyline" required to move a therapeutic area forward.
  • Manage the full business development lifecycle, from initial scientific concept and internal cross-functional briefing to final contract and budget oversight.
  • Ensure all educational designs meet the highest standards of ACCME, PhRMA, and EFPIA compliance.

Who You Are

  • You hold an advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) in a life sciences discipline. You are comfortable interpreting Kaplan-Meier curves and molecular pathways.
  • You have a proven track record (7+ years) of securing high-value IME/CME grants or medical education funding.
  • You know how to build a "Scientific Narrative"—taking raw data and turning it into a compelling case for educational intervention.
  • You possess the gravitas to lead discussions with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and senior pharmaceutical stakeholders.
  • You understand the global pharmaceutical landscape and how educational funding cycles operate within Medical Affairs. Why This Agency? Our client is renowned for its academic-grade scientific team and its ability to deliver education that actually shifts clinical practice.
  • Work alongside a team where "Science First" is the guiding principle, not a buzzword.
  • Lead programmes that address international healthcare challenges across oncology, immunology, rare diseases, and beyond.

Rewards:

An executive-level package reflecting the dual scientific and commercial nature of the role, including a performance-driven bonus structure.
