Software Engineering Manager – Engineering Platform & AI Enablement

Bristol (Hybrid, 2 days/week)

Permanent - Up to £95K + 15% bonus + Bens

Lead the evolution of enterprise-wide AI enablement and shared engineering platform services at a leading UK investment platform (2M+ clients, £120bn+ AUM, Bristol-headquartered). You'll own the roadmap for developer tooling across source control, CI/CD, artefact management and quality engineering, leading multiple squads and shaping technical direction across the business — a genuine senior leadership opportunity with real influence over how the wider engineering org works.

Leading multiple squads, you will be accountable for the performance, delivery, and growth of your teams, ensuring high standards throughout the software development lifecycle. You will help shape technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and influence technology decisions across the business. As a senior leader, you will build strong technical consensus, develop high-performing teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Tech skills:

• Strong technical background across modern software delivery (source control, CI/CD, artefact management)
• Track record leading and scaling multiple engineering squads
• Familiarity with agentic AI tooling and developer-experience platforms
• Comfortable reviewing solution designs and acting as a technical authority
• Strong grasp of quality engineering practices across the SDLC
• Excellent stakeholder management — works closely with senior engineering leadership across the business
