Are you an experienced Cost Engineer, Estimator or Work Planner with a strong technical background and a talent for turning engineering requirements into accurate project costs?

Sector HR & Recruitment is recruiting for a leading technical engineering organisation in the Netherlands for a Cost Engineer to support the preparation of detailed cost estimates and quotations for technical installation projects across the region.

This is an opportunity to work within a major technical services environment, collaborating with project leaders, contract managers, technicians and subcontractors to deliver commercially sound and technically practical solutions.

THE ROLA as a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates and quotations for the replacement and modification of technical installations.

The role has a strong focus on cost calculation and estimating, requiring you to assess materials, labour, equipment, subcontractors and project hours to determine the most appropriate project cost.

You will also contribute to pre-engineering during the tender phase and provide technical and financial input throughout the project lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

🔹 Analyse technical specifications, drawings and project documentation

🔹 Develop detailed cost estimates and commercial quotations

🔹 Calculate material, labour, equipment and subcontractor requirements

🔹 Determine project hours and appropriate rates

🔹 Work closely with project leaders, contract managers and technical teams

🔹 Engage with external subcontractors to establish cost-effective solutions

🔹 Identify project risks and develop strategies to manage and reduce them

🔹 Identify opportunities for cost savings and alternative technical solutions

🔹 Apply lessons learned from previous projects to improve future estimates

🔹 Provide pre-engineering input during the tender process

🔹 Support project leaders with cost and financial decision-making

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a technically minded professional who is comfortable working independently with budgets, calculations and project documentation, while also communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders.

You will need:

🔹 Technical MBO 4 qualification or equivalent technical qualification

🔹 Experience as a Cost Engineer, Estimator / Calculator or Work Planner within a technical environment

🔹 Experience preparing budgets, cost estimates and calculations independently

🔹 Strong understanding of project rates, norms and cost structures

🔹 Experience within environments such as hospitals, universities, commercial buildings, offices or data centres is advantageous

🔹 Strong analytical and numerical skills

🔹 Good communication and stakeholder-management skills

🔹 A structured and accurate approach to your work

🔹 Willingness to undertake further technical training and professional development

💶 Salary: €4,855 – €6,175 gross per month based on a 40-hour week

💰 8% holiday allowance

📄 Permanent contract from day one
