Job Summary

Requirements

Technical qualification in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.

3–4 years of relevant experience working on commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, trains, or other heavy-duty equipment.

Experience maintaining and repairing diesel or petrol/gasoline-powered vehicles.

Willingness to work shifts.

Fluent in English and Afrikaans.

Valid driver's licence.


About the Role

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will initially work under the guidance of experienced technicians before progressing to independently carrying out maintenance and repair work.

Your daily responsibilities will include inspecting diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic installations using inspection and measurement procedures. You'll use a digital tablet to manage work orders and collaborate with colleagues to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

In addition to routine maintenance, you'll assist with technical investigations, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and provide support to vehicle operators when technical issues arise.


Key Responsibilities

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on vehicles.

Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults.

Carry out repairs to diesel engines and vehicle systems.

Maintain diesel engines and electrical systems.

Inspect wheel alignment and ensure components meet required specifications.

Identify and reject non-conforming parts and coordinate replacements with colleagues.

Work collaboratively within the workshop while maintaining a strong safety culture.


What We Offer

Employment

2-year employment contract (40 hours per week), with the opportunity for long-term employment.

25 paid annual leave days, plus potential additional ADV days.

Up to 7 paid public holidays per year.

Holiday allowance of 8.33% of your gross annual salary, paid annually in May.

Overtime and shift allowances where applicable.

Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre for commuting.

Monthly salary ranging from €4,000 to €4,357, depending on experience.

Visa and work permit support for you and your family, where required.

Airport or train station pick-up upon arrival.
