Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Exploration to lead and drive exploration activities across our gold and copper operations in Zambia. This is a senior leadership role for a forward-thinking professional who can unlock resource potential, guide exploration strategy, and build high-performing technical teams in a dynamic mining environment.

About the role:

You will take full ownership of exploration strategy and execution — from target generation through to resource definition — ensuring alignment with the company’s growth and production objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and execute exploration strategy across multiple projects

Identify, evaluate, and prioritise new exploration targets

Oversee drilling programmes, geological mapping, and sampling activities

Manage and develop a multidisciplinary exploration team

Ensure accurate geological modelling and resource estimation inputs

Integrate exploration data with mine planning and development teams

Manage exploration budgets, timelines, and contractor performance

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

Provide technical insights to support investment and expansion decisions

What we’re looking for:

Extensive experience in mineral exploration (gold and/or copper preferred)

Proven leadership experience managing exploration teams and programmes

Strong technical expertise in geological modelling and resource development

Track record of delivering successful exploration outcomes

Experience working in Africa or similar remote environments (advantageous)

Relevant degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
