Job Summary

Role Purpose

Accountable for delivering short- to medium-term mine planning, design, and engineering execution to support safe, efficient, and cost-controlled production under current operations and planned expansion. Ensures mine plans remain executable under changing pit phases, increased production rates, and potential transition to underground operations.


Key Responsibilities

·        Develop and maintain short-term mine plans aligned to life-of-mine strategy and expansion sequencing

·        Produce detailed pit designs, haul roads, ramps, and drill patterns for current and future phases

·        Monitor plan versus actual performance and adjust plans to maintain production targets

·        Design and optimise drilling and blasting parameters under varying rock conditions

·        Support ramp-up scenarios, including increased fleet, multiple working faces, and pushback development

·        Track and report production, dilution, and unit cost performance

·        Integrate geological and survey data into planning and reconciliation workflows

·        Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical engineering solutions

·        Support contractor management and ensure alignment with mine plans

·        Maintain accurate planning, production, and cost records

·        Participate in regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with Zambian mining requirements

·        Enforce safety in all planning and execution activities


Required Experience

·        3–7 years in open pit mining operations or mine planning

·        Experience in short-term planning and drill and blast design

·        Exposure to mine expansion, pushbacks, or increased production rates preferred

·        African mining experience advantageous

·        Owner-operated mining exposure preferred
