We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client’s innovative and technically driven team.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in the full project lifecycle — from concept and research through to implementation and commissioning — within the bulk materials handling and agri-industrial sectors.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Developing intellectual property through research and development of mechanical applications and sellable equipment related to bulk materials handling and the agri industry.
• Conducting feasibility studies, analytical investigations, and conceptual designs for new technologies.
• Applying expertise in stress analysis, heat transfer, design for manufacture, and material strength analysis.
• Creating detailed SolidWorks drawings, layouts, and manufacturing details.
• Ensuring designs are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and efficient to manufacture, fully reflecting client requirements.
• Understanding and applying manufacturing practices to ensure clear communication to workshop teams (e.g., boilermakers and fabricators).
• Conducting technical evaluations of tenders and preparing recommendations for design, costing, and technical specifications.
• Managing turnkey projects from concept through to implementation and commissioning.
• Reviewing operational practices and troubleshooting existing systems to develop practical, sellable solutions.
• Providing mechanical and electronic engineering solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complete, user-aligned outcomes.
• Performing engineering calculations and simulations (flow dynamics, discrete element modelling, strength of materials) and compiling design verification reports.
• Preparing technical documentation, including equipment data sheets, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Managing information related to product development, intellectual property, and project documentation.
• Assisting with component sourcing, supplier selection, and coordination of design reviews with contractors and suppliers.
• Liaising with third-party engineering consultants on specialised design solutions.
• Organising project teams, suppliers, and consultants to ensure on-time delivery and minimal rework.
• Reviewing all project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Preparing progress reports and payment certificates on projects.
• Staying up to date with developments and innovations in the bulk materials handling and agri industries.
• Conducting site visits, supervision, inspections, and commissioning when required.
• Adhering to company procedures and engineering standards.

Ideal Profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical design or similar engineering role within industrial or utilities sectors.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, project management, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and relevant design tools.
• High attention to detail with a focus on delivering quality, accurate work.
