RecQuest is partnering with a well-regarded independent law firm in Winchester to appoint a Head of Private Client, and they’re looking for someone with the technical expertise and the strategic drive to shape the future of the department. This is a standout opportunity for a senior lawyer who’s ready to take the reins and lead with both compassion and commercial acumen. You’ll have the freedom to grow the team, refine processes, and play a central role in the firm’s long-term development.

What the role involves:

• Leading on a wide range of private client matters including Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and Tax Planning
• Managing relationships with high-net-worth clients and growing the department’s portfolio
• Driving the department’s expansion—including hiring, mentoring, and developing its strategic direction
• Collaborating with the leadership team to align legal delivery with the firm’s growth ambitions
• Providing clear and confident advice with sensitivity to the client’s personal circumstances

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum 5 years’ PQE in private client law
• Strong technical knowledge across estate planning and administration
• A client-focused, empathetic approach with sharp commercial awareness
• Proven leadership skills and a desire to build a high-performing, trusted team
