Job Description
As a Patient Support Representative, you will perform a variety of general administrative support duties associated with the patient intake process for the assigned facility, in accordance with established guidelines.
In this role, you will interact with patients daily—either in person or by phone—to manage check-in and check-out procedures, collect and enter demographic and financial information, verify insurance coverage, schedule appointments, and collect payments. You will also obtain and process referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications, and work closely with patients to fulfill referral requirements and clarify insurance benefits.
This position requires strong critical thinking skills, responsiveness to patient needs, and the ability to provide effective solutions. A working knowledge of insurance and billing requirements, privacy practices, and basic medical terminology is essential. You will follow established communication channels to address daily issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
Strong customer service skills are essential to ensure patients consistently receive the highest level of support. This role may involve working at a front desk or in a phone-based environment, interacting directly or remotely with patients.
To be successful in this role, you must carefully manage the administrative aspects of the patient intake process, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out procedures, accurate data collection, and efficient scheduling.
You will demonstrate exceptional customer service by proactively identifying patient needs, offering appropriate solutions, managing complex insurance authorizations and billing processes, and maintaining strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards—all while enhancing the overall patient experience.
