Semiconductor, IP Licensing, Hunter & Farmer, Green Card Holder/US Citizen

SF – Bay Area

$200,000 - $240,000 + 40% Variable

I'm partnering with a global technology client whose groundbreaking chip designs power everything from the world’s most iconic smartphones and drones to the next generation of self-driving cars. This is an exceptional opportunity to own high-value, complex IP licensing deals across North America. My client is seeking a highly motivated Director of Sales to own and accelerate North American IP licensing revenue. This role requires an individual who is both a "hunter," aggressively identifying and closing high-value net-new business, and a "farmer," nurturing relationships with my client's largest accounts.

The ideal candidate will be based in California to best serve the large portion of clients in that region, with regular travel expected across the U.S.

Key Requirements:Experience & Expertise:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Semiconductor industry is required.
  • IP Licensing: At least 5 years of experience specifically in the world of high-value IP licensing (e.g., CPU, GPU, memory, interconnect).
  • Deal Ownership: Proven track record of identifying, negotiating, and closing complex, multi-million-dollar licensing agreements.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

Cultural Fit & Desirable Skills

My client is looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and confident team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

  • Personality: They seek someone sociable and enthusiastic who communicates clearly and shows genuine excitement for the technology and the role.
  • Collaboration: A strong team player who gets along well with the existing four-person team, isn't afraid to ask for advice, and is willing to provide constructive feedback.

Advanced Skills (Nice to Haves):

  • Direct experience selling into the Automotive industry (Tier 1s and OEMs) is a major advantage (my client holds a significant market share here).
  • A background that includes prior experience as a Field Application Engineer (FAE) or other technical roles (EDA, etc.).
  • Experience in the highly specialized GPU/Graphics IP licensing space is extremely rare and highly valued.

Why Consider This Role?

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of AI, automotive, and consumer electronics, providing the core technology that defines next-generation devices. You’ll be joining a stable, growing company with a rewarding compensation structure designed to reflect success in closing major deals.
