The Opportunity


Oxygen 8 Recruitment is partnering with a leading global provider of continuing medical education (CME) to find an Account Manager to join their commercial team. Our client serves over 5 million healthcare providers worldwide, helping them stay current on treatment options, disease diagnosis, clinical guidelines, medical device innovation, and pharmaceutical clinical trial data through virtual and live in-person educational programming. They partner with 250+ pharmaceutical and medical device companies, government health agencies, and over 100 academic medical centers, patient advocacy groups, and medical associations.


We’re looking for an early-to-mid career sales professional ready to build a long-term career in medical education. This is an opportunity to grow into a strategic, consultative sales role within a market-leading organization, ideal for someone with a solid sales foundation who wants to develop deep expertise in the CME and medical education space, rather than someone who has already spent a career mastering it.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and grow business relationships with current and prospective pharmaceutical and medical device clients (supporters) in the assigned territory to generate new medical education funding opportunities.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach and presentations to existing and prospective supporters in a highly consultative fashion.
  • Continually assess revenue potential of territory through analysis of the overall market, supporters’ corporate goals, pipeline outlook, and general industry intelligence in order to provide accurate sales forecasts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop effective medical education grant proposals for current and prospective supporters.
  • Provide management with updates on sales-focused activities including lead generation, competitive intelligence, forecast adjustments, challenges, and needs.
  • Keep abreast of supporter news, market conditions, competitive activities, and educational/technological trends through ongoing research and engagement at industry and medical conferences, literature reviews, and other sources.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent directly relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of overall sales experience, ideally within pharmaceutical promotional sales, medical affairs, or CME/medical education settings.
  • Comfort with or strong interest in CME programming and ACCME guidelines — direct CME sales experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • A track record of growing existing relationships and prospecting new ones in a consultative, relationship-first sales environment.
  • Looking to build a long-term career in medical education sales, with the drive to grow into a more senior, strategic role over time.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; excellent oral communication; works well in a team environment.
  • Self-starter comfortable creating a daily routine, staying organized, and traveling to supporters within an assigned territory.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for customer service, sales goal attainment, closing, prospecting, negotiation, presentation skills, and building client relationships.
