JOB TITLE: Support Worker

LOCATION: South Gloucestershire

SALARY: £17 per hour

HOURS: Zero Hours - Work flexibly to suit your lifestyle and family requirements.

We offer a variety of working hours to meet the needs of the children and their families, including 6-, 8- and 10-hour shifts throughout the week. Hours may vary and be extended during school holidays to support community-based activities.

We are looking for fun, kind, compassionate and caring individuals in the South Gloucestershire area who hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.

Applicants should have experience of working with children and young people with learning and communication needs, including supporting those with epilepsy.

The young people in our care are supported to live their best lives through high-quality, person-centred care. This care is delivered in collaboration with the multidisciplinary professionals involved, with each child and their family at the heart of all decisions.

Experience of PEG feeding, seizures, rescue medication and emergency first aid for children is highly desirable. 

Desirable skills and experience

PEG care, including the administration of medication, feeds and fluids

Administration of medication

Administration of oxygen

Understanding of physical observations

Suctioning

Experience and understanding of autism and learning disabilities

British Sign Language (BSL) and/or Makaton

NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care

Essential skills and attributes

Full UK Driving Licence.

Own training certificates for mandatory training, including First Aid and Manual Handling.

Ability to work effectively as part of a core team

Confidence and ability to work independently

Ability to remain calm in challenging situations

Understanding of PACE and Low Arousal approaches

Ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Sound understanding of safeguarding
