Charge Nurse – Neurological Care
Location: Chigwell, Essex
Salary: £43,000 per annum
Our client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Charge Nurse to join a specialist neurological care service in Chigwell. This is an excellent opportunity for either an established Charge Nurse or a Senior Nurse ready to take the next step in their career within a highly supportive multidisciplinary environment.The service provides specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy support for adults living with complex neurological conditions, long-term disabilities, tracheostomy and ventilator needs, and those recovering from traumatic injuries.
As Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in leading the nursing team, ensuring high standards of clinical care and smooth day-to-day operations across the unit. You will motivate and support your team while delivering person-centred care that improves the quality of life for service users.You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a clinical leader within the service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, support and coordinate the nursing team within the unit
Deliver and oversee high-quality clinical care for service users with complex neurological needs
Delegate nursing duties effectively and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
Monitor service users’ conditions and respond appropriately to clinical changes
Supervise, mentor and support junior nursing staff
Manage staff allocation, scheduling and resource planning
Promote effective teamwork, communication and clinical best practice
Ensure care is delivered in line with regulatory and professional standards
Requirements
Registered Nurse qualification with valid NMC registration
Strong neurological nursing experience at Charge Nurse or Ward Sister level
Competent in tracheostomy, ventilator, PEG and catheter care
Experience working within complex neurological and/or respiratory care environments
Proven leadership and team management experience
Compassionate, positive and proactive approach to care
Commitment to delivering evidence-based, person-centred care

The service is a specialist 22-bed neurological centre providing rehabilitation and long-term care for individuals with complex neurological conditions. Facilities include high-dependency equipment, specialist therapy spaces, accessible communal areas, and adapted bedrooms designed to support rehabilitation and independence.
