Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Support Worker 


LOCATION: Bristol (with opportunities for varied work across the South West)


SALARY: £12.48 per hour 


Work Pattern: This is a full-time role based on a 7-day rota, with a combination of day and night shifts.

Job Description 


In this role, you will help individuals live as independently as possible in their homes and communities. Each care package is personalised to meet the unique needs, goals, and aspirations of the person, and you will work closely with families and extended networks to support independence and community engagement. 


Key Responsibilities: 


Deliver person-centred care under the guidance of senior carers, lead nurses, team leaders, or managers. 


Engage with service users in ways that support their individual needs and interests. 


Support individuals in daily living, promoting independence, wellbeing, and inclusion. 


Implement and update care plans, ensuring attention to detail, and escalate any concerns to senior staff. 


Maintain accurate records, including electronic care notes. 


Manage and report incidents effectively, including safeguarding, self-harm, absconsion and other serious events. 


Safeguard and promote the welfare of all individuals supported. 


Build positive relationships with service users, their families, and local communities. 


Apply therapeutic approaches, including PACE, to support individual needs, interests, and preferences. Facilitate positive relationships with local communities and families where appropriate. 


Transport service users safely, using your own or the service user’s vehicle as required. 


Collaborate with colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistent, high-quality care. 


Communicate clearly and promptly with colleagues and managers regarding changes, risks, or concerns. 


Identify opportunities to improve care, share best practice, and support team consistency, including mentoring peers where appropriate. 


Reflect on practice, seek feedback, and engage in continuous learning to enhance care delivery. 


Maintain up-to-date training and professional skills, ensuring ongoing development. 


Represent the company positively at all times, demonstrating professionalism and integrity. 


Requirements: 


Essential Requirements: 


Full UK driving licence and access to a car. 


Minimum of 1 year’s driving experience. 


At least 1 year of experience in a similar care role. 


Certificate evidencing completion of all annual mandatory training, including in-person First Aid and Manual Handling. 


Enhanced DBS check for the child and adult workforce. 


Knowledge of learning disabilities, mental health, and supporting independence. 


Proficiency in written and spoken English. 


Strong time management, problem-solving, and organisational skills. 


Experience working in high-pressure environments. 


Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Understanding of CQC standards and requirements. 


Understanding of social care legislation and best practice. 


Desirable: 


Experience working with children. 


Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care. 


PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training.
