Job Description:
Join a small, friendly care home in the heart of Dorchester as a Chef, where your work will directly enhance the lives of up to 23 residents. You’ll take pride in creating fresh, nutritious meals that reflect residents’ needs and preferences, supporting their health, well-being, and daily routines.
This role is ideal for someone who combines culinary skill with compassion and leadership. You'll manage the kitchen, lead a small team, develop menus, and ensure the highest food hygiene and safety standards — all within a supportive and caring environment.
Experience
Requirements:
Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene legislation
Proven experience as a chef, ideally in a care or healthcare setting
Previous experience leading a kitchen team
Menu development and budgeting experience
Leadership and team supervision skills
A compassionate and resident-focused approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of health and safety and infection control
Flexibility to work across weekdays and weekends
Aged 18 or over (due to the nature of the role)
Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
