Job Summary
JOB TITLE: Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist - Inpatient LOCATION: Nottingham SALARY: £105,504 to £139,882 Our client is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership and exceptional care to patients in a functional inpatient ward. The post involves leading assessments and treatment within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) while ensuring the highest standard of care for patients. Key Responsibilities Provide medical leadership to the MDT, overseeing the care of up to 9 inpatients. Undertake comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk management. Ensure clinical responsibilities are managed effectively with support from the administrative team. Supervise and train foundation and GP trainees attached to the ward. Contribute to MDT meetings, treatment strategies, and patient discharge planning. Adhere to legislation concerning the care of older patients with mental illness, including Mental Health Act responsibilities. Participate in CPD, audits, research projects, and governance meetings. Contribute to clinical teaching and support quality improvement efforts.
Experience
Requirements Qualifications: MB BS or equivalent, MRCPsych with CCT in Old Age Psychiatry (or within 6 months). Eligibility: Fully registered with GMC with a licence to practice, included on GMC Specialist Register, Approved Clinician status, and Approved under S12 (or able to achieve within 3 months). Transport: Valid UK driving licence or evidence of proposed alternative transport arrangements. Clinical Knowledge & Experience: Excellent clinical skills, bio-psycho-social approach, decision-making based on evidence, ability to manage clinical complexity. Academic & Lifelong Learning: Experience in teaching, CPD participation, clinical audit, and research.
