Job Summary

An exciting opportunity to join a great team as Senior Quantity Surveyor. Ideal for an experienced SQS or someone who feels prepared and ready to step up into a more senior role.


The role is accountable for protecting and maximising project profitability through effective contract administration, cost control, change management, cash collection, and commercial risk management. The Senior QS provides leadership and development to the commercial team, ensuring consistent processes, high-quality reporting, and strong commercial governance across all projects.


Principle Accountabilities: 

  • Representing the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and developing strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • To ensure effective written and verbal communication of all contractual, commercial, financial, corporate and operational issues within the area.
  • Lead the commercial management of all Fire & Security installation projects.
  • Ensure all projects are commercially set up correctly following contract award.
  • Review contract terms and identify commercial risks and obligations.
  • Maintain robust commercial records throughout project delivery.
  • Lead the preparation and agreement of Final Accounts.
  • Ensure all variations are identified, priced, submitted and agreed promptly.
  • Work with operational teams to maximise recovery of additional works.
  • Support debt recovery alongside the Finance department.
  • Maintain positive project cashflow.
  • Reduce Work in Progress (WIP) exposure.
  • Produce monthly commercial reports for Directors.
  • Report project profitability, risks and opportunities.
  • Provide forecasting information for business cashflow.
  • Ensure commercial procedures are consistently followed.
  • Develop and improve commercial systems and processes.
  • Plan, prioritise and allocate workload across the commercial team.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members to improve commercial competence. 
  • Identify training and development needs and support progression through structured development plans.
  • Ensure consistency in commercial processes, reporting standards and contract administration across the team.
