Senior Interior Designer
High-end residential | London (hybrid) | £55,000 – £65,000
Some opportunities only come around once. This is one of them.
Our client is an award-winning interior design and interior architecture studio with more than twenty years behind it. Their clients are private, loyal and largely found through word of mouth. Some of those relationships go back two decades. The studio has spent recent years working from its international base. Now its London clients are taking on some of their most ambitious projects yet, and the studio is rebuilding its UK team to deliver them.
You would be one of the first two hires in that new London chapter. That carries real weight. You won’t be joining a team of fifty and waiting your turn. You’ll help shape how the London studio works from day one.
The projects
The current portfolio speaks for itself. It includes a substantial double-plot new build in prime North West London, a private office across several floors in Mayfair, and residences in Belgravia and Battersea. Beyond the UK, the studio is working on a large villa in Marbella, a residence in Lisbon, projects in West Africa and the interior of a 60-metre superyacht in Italy. These are clients for whom a single coffee table can cost as much as a car, and the detail is held to that standard throughout.
The role
This is a senior all-rounder role, with FF&E and materiality at its heart.
The studio already has a strong interior architecture team and an excellent design and build partner on its largest London scheme. Detailed drawing work and building coordination are well covered. What the studio needs is someone who can own the soft side of a project with real authority, from concept to completion.
That means leading concepts, FF&E selections and space planning. It means building schemes around fabrics, finishes and materials. You’ll present to clients and oversee schedules, specifications and design intent packages. You’ll also lead procurement, budgets and programmes.
A lot of the role happens on site. You’ll meet the curtain maker, check that a sauna installation matches the spec, solve problems on the spot and make sure what was designed is what gets delivered. As the London team grows, you’ll also guide and develop the designers who join you.
You won’t be working alone. Projects usually have two or three designers on them, and you’ll work closely with a well-established international team of around twelve designers and architectural staff. The directors are hands-on and in London regularly.
What you’ll bring
Around seven years or more in a high-end or super-prime residential studio, with projects you’ve seen from concept to completion
Deep knowledge of FF&E, materials and finishes, plus a supplier book of your own. The studio welcomes new suppliers, though they must be proven and reliable at this level.
Confident site experience, working with architects, contractors, trades and suppliers
The presence to hold your own with discerning private clients
Working AutoCAD skills for space planning and furniture layouts. You won’t be expected to produce elevations. SketchUp, InDesign and Photoshop are also expected.
Experience with Estimac is helpful but not essential. Strong Excel scheduling transfers easily.A relevant interior design or interior architecture qualification
Who will thrive here?
Someone who values continuity and wants a long-term home, not a stepping stone. Taste matters a great deal. So does trust: the directors need someone they can rely on to make good decisions while they’re away. If you enjoy owning a project and taking responsibility for it, this will suit you.
The package
