Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day finance operations, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger tasks.
• Prepare weekly BACS payment runs, same-day and international payments, ensuring accuracy and strong financial controls.
• Complete monthly VAT returns, reconcile VAT accounts, and maintain compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Process journals, staff and corporate credit card transactions, and petty cash. • Set up and maintain supplier and customer accounts, ensuring accurate finance master data.
• Raise sales invoices and carry out proactive credit control to reduce aged debt.
• Support budget holders with financial reporting, variance analysis, and cost control.
• Provide cover for the Finance Management Accountant when needed.
• Offer guidance and supervision to Finance Assistants and other junior finance staff.

About You

• Experience working in a busy finance team, ideally within a multi-site or complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, reconciliations, and core financial controls.
• Confident using accounting systems/ERP and Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently while building effective relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
