Job Summary

A well-established manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to review production orders, keep schedules on track, and lead the shop floor. Working directly with the General Manager, you'll play a central role in building and shaping the 2nd shift team from the ground up — anticipating production and personnel challenges, solving them before they impact output, and maintaining a safe, well-run floor.

This is a floor-level leadership role for someone who thrives on managing both people and production in a fast-moving plating/manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Own the production schedule — set work schedules, staff appropriately, and hire to meet production goals
  • Organize daily work, direct and assist employees, and place people where they'll be most productive
  • Develop training schedules for new hires and evaluate worker performance
  • Maintain department records (attendance, performance evaluations)
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust job routers
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to reduce scrap and increase productivity
  • Conduct and document disciplinary actions
  • Prepare production, safety, and other reports for upper management
  • Set department objectives and goals to hit production targets
  • Enforce safe work practices and maintain strong housekeeping standards

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5–10 years of industry or related experience
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • HAZWOPER training and forklift license
  • Hands-on, factory-floor management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Strong leadership, organization, and clear communication skills
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once

Preferred

  • CEF certification
  • Hazardous waste training
  • Familiarity with plating specs, spec libraries, and plating process characteristics/limitations

Working Conditions

This is a plant-floor role. Expect exposure to shop elements — noise (hearing protection required), dust, odors, fumes, heat, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles. Areas may be wet or humid due to heated cleaning and plating tanks containing caustic and acidic solutions. Required safety equipment provided/used as needed.

Dress Code: Steel-toed boots, long pants, and t-shirts (nothing with holes, rips, tears, or offensive graphics).

The Environment

Quality first, then production. This is a family-oriented team with a smooth, steady pace and a strong culture — they're looking for people who want to grow into their core group.

Company Benefits
- Full benefits
- Paid vacation & holidays
- Regular performance evaluations
- Supportive, family-style work environment with room to grow
