Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Work-mode: On-site / Hybrid (depending on team requirements)

Location: New York City, NY

Salary: $250,000 to $275,000 per annum (negotiable, depending on experience)


Our client is a nationally recognized law firm with a leading Land Use and Zoning practice based in New York City. The firm represents developers, property owners, institutional clients, and investors on some of the city's most significant development projects, with deep expertise in zoning analysis, due diligence, and development rights.


Due to continued demand for the practice's work, our client is looking to add an experienced Associate Attorney to the team — someone who can hit the ground running on complex zoning and land use matters across NYC's development landscape.


This is an excellent opportunity for a land use attorney to work on high-profile projects at the intersection of real estate, regulation, and city planning, within a firm that is widely regarded as a market leader in this space.


Responsibilities

  • Conducting zoning analysis and due diligence
  • Handling development rights transactions
  • Advising clients on how the Zoning Resolution and related regulations apply to specific sites and development programs
  • Handling discretionary land use approvals, including rezonings, special permits, variances, and environmental review
  • Managing landmark matters before the New York City Planning Commission, Board of Standards and Appeals, City Council, and other governmental agencies


Requirements

  • Minimum three years of private practice and/or government experience
  • Experience interpreting and applying the New York City Zoning Resolution and related land use, environmental, and regulatory laws
  • Experience conducting zoning due diligence and preparing zoning analyses
  • Experience advising clients on development-related matters
  • Experience with zoning and land use applications strongly preferred
