Salary: $135,000 to $150,000 per annum
Our client is a well-established litigation firm with a strong reputation in municipal and insurance defense matters. The firm handles high-volume, complex litigation and is known for its disciplined case management, strategic advocacy, and commitment to client service.
As part of the continued growth of its Insurance Defense practice, the firm is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Defense Attorney to join its team.
The firm is seeking a highly skilled attorney with at least 5 years of experience in personal injury and negligence matters. The successful candidate will independently manage cases from inception through discovery and pre-trial phases, with trial experience considered a strong advantage.
This role requires a confident litigator who is comfortable appearing in court, handling depositions, and managing a demanding caseload in a structured, in-person environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage files from receipt of summons and complaint through all phases of discovery
- Maintain and manage a diary system to ensure all deadlines are met
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Appear in court for conferences and motion practice
- Draft motions, affirmations in opposition, and related pleadings
- Review and analyse medical records in personal injury matters
- Prepare timely and detailed reports to insurance adjusters and clients
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure efficient case progression
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active New York State Bar admission
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in negligence and personal injury defense
- Strong experience conducting and defending depositions
- Experience appearing in court for conferences and motions
- Strong written advocacy and motion practice skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple files efficiently
- Trial experience preferred but not required
