Renewable / Solar Energy Consultant

Location: NE10 (with travel to client sites and industry events)

Department: Renewable Energy

Reports to: Head of Sales / Director

About the Role

As a Renewable/Solar Energy Consultant, you will be responsible for driving strategy, growth, and successful delivery across our client’s solar, battery storage, and wider green‑energy portfolio. Your work will directly support businesses in reducing energy costs, improving sustainability performance, and achieving their carbon‑reduction commitments.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role that blends technical expertise, project management, sales, and stakeholder leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

  • Lead the development and expansion of our client’s renewable solutions portfolio, including solar PV, battery storage, and associated green‑energy technologies.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities within existing and emerging client sectors.
  • Support business‑wide decarbonisation initiatives that enable clients to cut energy bills and hit carbon‑reduction targets.

Solar Project Delivery

  • Conduct detailed on-site surveys to assess feasibility and client requirements.
  • Complete end‑to‑end system design work, ensuring best-fit technical solutions for each energy setup.
  • Run yield models, performance simulations, and financial projections to support proposals.
  • Prepare and present bespoke proposals, including financing options where applicable.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to closing the deal.

Installer & Partner Management

  • Coordinate installation teams to ensure quality, timely delivery, and safe working practices.
  • Negotiate installer pricing and commercial terms to maintain strong margins for our client.
  • Build positive relationships to protect the interests of all stakeholders — our client, partners, and customers.

Industry Events & Representation

  • Attend key events such as Solar & Storage Live, Energy Now, and Net Zero conferences.
  • Represent our client, deputising for the Head of Sales or Director where required.
  • Participate in partnership meetings and networking sessions to strengthen industry presence.

Collaboration with Corporate Energy-Management Team

  • Support corporate tender responses and bid preparation for high‑value clients.
  • Join client calls to present solar and wider renewable-energy solutions.
  • Advise on technical, commercial, and carbon‑saving opportunities within larger energy projects.

Lead Generator Development

  • Oversee and mentor a dedicated lead generator, providing structured training and day‑to‑day guidance.
  • Create clear frameworks for lead quality, pipeline management, and conversion targets.

Internal & Partner Training

  • Deliver training sessions for internal sales teams, installers, and partner organisations.
  • Educate colleagues on solar design principles, financing models, and best‑practice sales techniques.
  • Ensure all teams are confident discussing and promoting renewable products.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of compliance requirements including MCS, REGO, and grid‑connection processes.
  • Track and report carbon savings produced by completed installations for client ESG reporting.
  • Ensure all documentation meets industry, regulatory, and audit standards.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, battery solutions, and renewable‑energy technology.
  • Experience conducting site surveys, technical designs, or yield modelling (e.g., PV*Sol, Helioscope).
  • Proven ability to manage commercial negotiations and maintain healthy project margins.
  • Excellent communication and client‑facing skills, with confidence presenting at events.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders including installers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of UK compliance frameworks (MCS, G99/G100, DNO applications, REGO) preferred.
  • A proactive, organised, and commercially minded approach.

What’s On Offer

  • Opportunity to shape and grow a key business area in a high‑growth sector.
  • Professional development in renewable‑energy design, compliance, and project management.
  • Supportive team environment with significant career progression opportunities.
  • Direct impact on sustainability and decarbonisation across UK businesses.
