Commercial Quantity Surveyor

Salary & Package: £70,000 - £80,000 + Car Allowance, 23 days holiday (inc. bank holidays), hybrid working
We're working with a leading building services provider, known for the quality and reliability of their delivery across a range of sectors including Commercial, Education, Retail, Public Sector and MOD/Defence projects.
Due to continued growth, they're now looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially-minded QS to take ownership of allocated projects from pre-construction through to final account, working closely with Operations, Estimating, Procurement and Finance teams to protect project margin and drive commercial performance.
The Role
As Commercial Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for protecting and enhancing the commercial performance of allocated projects from pre-construction through to final account. You'll ensure robust commercial management, contractual compliance, accurate forecasting and effective change control throughout the project lifecycle, while working closely with Operations, Estimating, Procurement and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project budgets, cost plans and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and monthly commercial reports
- Capture, quantify, price and negotiate project variations in a timely and robust manner
- Administer main contracts and subcontract agreements, ensuring compliance with NEC, JCT and bespoke client contracts, including DEFCON and MOD requirements where applicable
- Prepare and issue contractual notices within required timescales
- Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including pricing reviews and commercial negotiations
- Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment and client valuations
- Identify, monitor and manage commercial risks throughout all stages of project delivery
- Prepare, negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a building services or construction contracting environment
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT forms
- Excellent commercial acumen with a track record of protecting and improving project margin
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
You'll have experience working across sectors such as
Commercial, Education, Retail, Public Sector and MOD/Defence markets, ideally within a building services or specialist contracting environment.
