AI Engineer (LLM Implementation Specialist)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a freelance AI Engineer with expertise in adapting and implementing Large Language Models (LLMs) for specific projects, products, and tasks. This is a remote, short term position with an initial contract of 3 months and potential for extension. Applicants must be proficient in professional-level English and work from a time zone within 3 hours of Japan Standard Time (JST). While there is no plan or promise of long-term or permanent hiring, long-term opportunities may arise depending on performance and team fit. The client company is a Japan based Digital Marketing firm with serval Saas products already in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
● Adapt pre-trained LLMs (e.g., GPT, BERT, etc.) to meet project-specific requirements.
● Implement LLM-based solutions to optimize workflows, enhance products, or address domain-specific challenges.
● Develop efficient pipelines for integrating LLMs into applications, APIs, or platforms.
● Fine-tune LLMs with domain-specific datasets for improved contextual accuracy.
● Design and test prompt engineering strategies to maximize model output relevance and quality.
● Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to model behaviour, scalability, or integration.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure LLM solutions align with business objectives.
● Document workflows, best practices, and outcomes for team learning and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field (or equivalent experience).
● Strong understanding of LLM frameworks and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face Transformers).
● Proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
● Experience fine-tuning pre-trained models and managing large-scale datasets.
● Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques and strategies.
● Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.
● Professional-level English proficiency, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves):
● Familiarity with cloud-based environments for AI model deployment.
● Experience applying LLMs to specific industry use cases (e.g., customer service, summarization).
● Understanding of ethical considerations in LLM usage, including bias mitigation and data privacy.
● Basic Japanese language skills (not required but advantageous for communication and documentation).
Work Conditions:
● Employment Type: Ideally Freelance, full time preferred, part-time (50% capacity, ~20 hours per week is also possible).
1 year or more fixed contract employment also possible for the right candidate already located in Japan.
● Contract Duration: Initial 3-month contract, with potential for extension based on project needs and performance.
● Location: Remote, with a time zone compatible with Japan Standard Time (JST) within 3 hours.
● Wages: To be discussed and determined based on qualifications and project scope.
