Connective Careers Pathways is recruiting on behalf of a children's residential care provider for a skilled and dedicated Deputy Manager. You will join a high-quality 2-bed children’s residential home in Derby, working closely alongside the Dual Homes Registered Managers to support the safe daily operations of the service. This is a fantastic step up for an experienced Senior or an established Deputy Manager looking to thrive within a structured, supportive environment.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the residential care team and ensuring a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for the young people in our care. You will balance direct care delivery during shifts with crucial administrative management days to maintain the high standards of the home.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the home.
- Leading, supervising, and mentoring the residential care team.
- Working a structured schedule of 3 administrative days (09:00–17:00) and one 24-hour shift per week.
- Ensuring the service remains compliant with care standards and safeguarding regulations.
- Participating in the management on-call rota to provide critical out-of-hours guidance.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Level 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or a higher relevant qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing or supervising a team within a children’s residential setting.
- Sector Knowledge: Clear, proven experience working with children and young people within residential care. Experience with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) is highly advantageous.
- Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
Working Hours & Shift Patterns:
- 46.5 hours per week.
- Weekly Pattern: 3 admin days (09:00–17:00) + one 24-hour shift (07:30–22:30, plus a sleep-in and a 30-minute handover the following morning).
- On-Call Rota: On call 1 week in every 3. Covers out-of-hours Monday to Friday (17:00–09:00) and 24 hours at weekends. Must be prepared to go into the home during emergencies if the situation cannot be resolved over the phone.
