Help shape the engineering judgement behind one of Europe’s most significant new nuclear programmes.
We are supporting an early-stage nuclear new-build programme in the Netherlands, focused on establishing the technical and engineering foundations of a long-term national infrastructure asset.
This is a Senior Nuclear Engineering Leader role — but not in the conventional delivery sense.
The programme involves large Gen III+ reactor technology. At this stage, the most valuable contribution is not producing calculations or managing packages — it is helping decision-makers ask the right technical questions, understand design positions, and apply proportionate challenge across complex interfaces.
You may already have spent years inside major new-build programmes — perhaps with a reactor vendor, utility, engineering consultancy, or owner’s organisation. You understand plant design philosophies, safety case logic, systems integration, regulatory engagement, and programme maturity.
But you may now find yourself wanting something different.
Less direct execution.More influence.Earlier-stage impact.
This role acts as a senior technical sounding board across:
Reactor and plant design philosophies
Systems engineering and safety considerations
Engineering interfaces and integration maturity
Governance, assurance, and structured technical challenge
It requires someone who has evolved from strong discipline roots into broad technical leadership — someone comfortable operating without direct line authority, but with influence built on credibility and judgement.
The environment is described as high-trust and low-ego.
The programme is formative.
The decisions made now will shape decades of national infrastructure.
Minimum expectations:
Significant senior experience in nuclear new build or major reactor programmes
Exposure to large Gen III+ reactor designs
Ability to engage across systems, safety, engineering, and regulatory domains
Confidence advising senior stakeholders and decision-makers
The role is Netherlands-based, on-site.
Relocation is expected.
We welcome international profiles, particularly from across the European Union.
If you have deep nuclear engineering experience and feel drawn toward shaping how decisions are framed — not just how designs are delivered — we would value a confidential conversation.
