Job Summary

Technical Specialist – Cable & Offshore Survey

(Offshore Grid Operations – Dutch North Sea)

If your work today feels too narrow — limited survey scopes, predictable cable routes, repetitive GIS workflows — this role offers something you rarely find onshore: ownership of full-cycle offshore cable inspections across one of Europe’s most strategically important grid systems.

We’re supporting a major organisation responsible for the operational integrity of Dutch North Sea offshore cables. Their offshore teams combine engineering, survey, and maintenance capabilities to ensure the grid remains reliable, safe, and ready for a low-carbon future.

The facts:

You’ll be part of the offshore cable & survey function, leading the annual inspection campaigns across Dutch North Sea assets. You coordinate contractors offshore, ensure technical deliverables meet quality standards, analyse survey outputs, and guide maintenance teams with expert insight. This role sits at the intersection of GIS, cable engineering, offshore survey, and inspection management.

The problem many people face:

If you work in offshore survey or cable inspection today, you may be stuck in a vendor-side cycle: short project bursts, limited visibility into asset life cycles, little influence on technical standards, no real say in inspection methodology, and very few chances to own QA/QC across the full chain.

The solution this role provides:

Here, you step into the owner’s perspective — setting expectations, supervising contractors, validating inspections, and shaping how offshore survey is delivered. You work across engineering, operations, and maintenance and directly influence how an entire offshore grid is monitored.

The colour:

• Lead offshore cable inspection campaigns and supervise contractors during execution

• Analyse results using GIS tools (ArcGIS, Global Mapper or similar) and provide technical interpretations

• Assure data quality, documentation accuracy and progress of inspection service providers

• Support tendering and contracting activities for offshore inspections

• Provide technical input to maintenance and engineering colleagues

• Join an international, English-speaking team managing one of Europe’s most dynamic offshore cable networksIf you’re experienced in offshore survey, cable inspections, GIS analysis or marine data quality — and you want to move into a stable, long-term grid operator environment — we’d be glad to speak with you.
