Nuclear Safety Analyst — Deterministic Safety Analysis
If you’ve been working in LWR thermal-hydraulics or deterministic analysis and want to step into a role where your modelling directly shapes the safety case of a next-generation SMR, this is that career inflection point.
A leading organisation in advanced nuclear technologies is seeking a Nuclear Safety Analyst to join its deterministic safety analysis team supporting a flagship SMR programme. You’ll work alongside specialists across core physics, systems engineering, thermal-hydraulics, and licensing to develop and validate the models that underpin the reactor’s safety justification.
Perhaps today you’re in a larger organisation where you only see one slice of the transient spectrum, or you’re limited to maintaining legacy models that never quite evolve. Maybe you’re looking for more ownership, more varied scenarios, or a clearer link between your analysis and real engineering decisions.
This role gives you that exposure. You’ll build, refine, and verify deterministic methods covering AOOs, DBAs, radiological release evaluations, engineered safety feature performance and reactor coolant behaviour—contributing directly to how the SMR meets licensing expectations. You’ll work hands-on with LWR-relevant system codes (e.g., RELAP5, COBRA, VIPRE, GOTHIC, RETRAN) and collaborate with engineers shaping a modern reactor design. If you have experience with at least one major nuclear system code and want to deepen your safety analysis expertise on a meaningful, next-generation programme, we’d be glad to talk.
Capax Mundi supports organisations across advanced nuclear and the wider energy transition in finding people who care about doing important work well.
