Senior Nuclear Safety Analyst
Shape the safety basis for a next-generation SMR and take ownership of analyses that genuinely influence design, licensing, and public confidence.
You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering team working on a first-of-a-kind small modular reactor programme. The role sits within a core Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) group and focuses on demonstrating that reactor systems, engineered safety features, containment and radiological performance meet stringent licensing expectations across AOOs and DBAs.
Perhaps you’re in a position where you’re running analyses but not shaping the broader safety strategy — or where you only see a narrow slice of the plant. Or maybe you’re looking for a setting where your technical judgement directly supports a full SMR lifecycle rather than isolated study packages.
This role offers that step-change: deeper ownership, direct engagement with system designers, and responsibility for the methods, models, and code validation activities that underpin a modern SMR safety case. You’ll work hands-on with thermal-hydraulic system codes (e.g. RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, GOTHIC), collaborate across engineering disciplines, and contribute to verification and validation of the models used in licensing.
If you bring strong LWR thermal-hydraulics experience, familiarity with at least one major system code, and the desire to influence a first-of-a-kind programme, we’d be glad to speak with you. You don’t need to know every code — but competence with one validated methodology and the curiosity to grow will matter.
