Confidential Clean-Energy Investment Advisory (Europe)
A global clean-energy advisory firm is seeking an expert with deep knowledge of how nuclear reactor technologies—especially SMRs—can be integrated into datacentre energy systems. The organisation works with investors, developers and technology providers across nuclear, advanced energy, infrastructure and digital-power projects. This role is part of a growing effort to understand and shape solutions for the rapidly expanding AI-driven datacentre market.
The Role
You will support the organisation’s internal investment advisory and project-development teams by:
• Assessing how different reactor designs (SMRs, micro-reactors, Gen III/III+) can interface with large-scale datacentre infrastructure
• Evaluating power delivery models: behind-the-meter, islanded operation, hybrid systems
• Analysing cooling integration: heat utilisation, heat-sink options, thermal-management challenges
• Producing short technical briefs for investors, family offices, developers and industry partners
• Advising on feasibility, siting considerations, commercial models and long-term OPEX implications
• Supporting early-stage concept development for novel nuclear-powered datacentre solutions
Profile
We’re looking for someone with:
• Strong understanding of nuclear reactor technologies, ideally including SMR vendors
• Experience with datacentre power systems, industrial cooling, or high-density compute environments
• Ability to translate complex engineering into clear investment-relevant insights
• Background from: nuclear utilities, engineering consultancies, SMR developers, datacentre engineering, T&D/grid integration, or advanced energy systems
• Comfortable working in early-stage, exploratory or pre-feasibility environments
Why This Matters
AI-driven datacentres will require 80–100 MW+ per facility, with global demand expected to exceed 150 GW by 2030. Nuclear—particularly SMRs—offers a unique combination of baseload power, cooling potential, predictability and minimal land use. This role sits at the centre of shaping how these systems can be integrated and financed.
Location
Flexible within Europe; remote with occasional travel.
Engagement
Open to consulting, project-based work, part-time advisory, or interim involvement depending on expertise.
