Job Summary

Position Overview


Client is seeking a Senior Counsel with 8+ years of deep healthcare regulatory and health tech transactional experience to serve as the lead legal advisor for its health tech client portfolio. In this role, you will advise on complex healthcare compliance issues, draft and negotiate core health data agreements, and help build and scale Client's dedicated health tech practice from the ground up using modern, technology-forward legal workflows.


  • Engagement Type: Contract-to-Hire (Contract initially, transitioning to Full-Time)
  • Location: Remote (US-based)
  • Full-Time Salary: $200,000 – $240,000 / year + Equity
  • Contract Rate: $110 – $120 / hour (~25 hours/week)


Key Responsibilities


  • Healthcare & Regulatory Advisory: Serve as the primary legal contact for clients across HIPAA, FDA, HHS/CMS regulations, data privacy, and digital health frameworks.
  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Lead hands-on negotiation and drafting of Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), vendor agreements, health data-sharing contracts, and commercial deals.
  • Practice Development & Knowledge Sharing: Build standardized contract templates, precedent libraries, and practice guidelines; train internal team members on healthcare legal concepts.
  • Actionable Guidance: Translate complex healthcare legal frameworks into clear, founder-friendly business strategies.


Requirements & Qualifications


  • Education & Credentials: J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active U.S. bar membership in good standing.
  • Relevant Experience: 8–15 years of dedicated healthcare regulatory and health tech transactional practice (from a top-tier law firm healthcare group, an in-house digital health company, or a regulatory agency such as HHS, FDA, or CMS).
  • Core Competencies: Expert-level knowledge of HIPAA, BAAs, FDA digital health guidelines, and health data governance.
  • Tech-Forward Mindset: Active familiarity with modern legal tech and AI tooling in daily legal workflows.
  • Specialization: Deep vertical focus in health tech and regulatory matters (generalist backgrounds will not be considered).<span class="ql-cursor"></span>
