Job Summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Manchester office, part of the largest independent consulting engineering firm of its kind.

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to create and deliver coordinated, innovative, and technically superior design solutions that align with our clients' briefs and visions.

Experience
A relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification, with a strong commitment to achieving chartered status. Membership in CIBSE, IMECHE, or another recognized industry institution is preferred.
Excellent technical knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design throughout all phases of the design process.
In-depth familiarity with modern technical delivery methods, especially in relation to Building Information Modelling (BIM), along with proficiency in designing and reviewing documentation created by others within these frameworks.
Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, demonstrating the ability to lead, motivate, and supervise both junior and senior engineers effectively.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of negotiating positive outcomes, planning resources, and managing teams efficiently.
Previous consultancy experience, with a keen appreciation for the significance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modelling, and an ability to analyse and interpret their implications for your projects.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation, with a focus on achieving high-quality results that meet client expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- You will work on a diverse range of projects, both in the UK and internationally
- Design advanced mechanical engineering systems using the latest software and tools.
- Lead mechanical services design for large-scale projects, and manage small to medium-sized projects within the office
- The project portfolio covers sectors such as Education, Science and Research, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential, Commercial, Defence, and high-end mixed-use developments, with a primary focus on Residential and Education.
- Lead the development of strategic concepts, ensuring solutions meet project briefs and regulatory standards
- Ensure high-quality technical delivery, working independently or as part of a team
- Mentor and support junior staff, offering guidance to help them grow and contribute effectively.
- Collaborate with the team leader to monitor financials, fee expenditure, and resource allocation.
- Promote innovation, research, and continuous improvement to stay ahead of competitors
- Build and maintain a strong reputation in the local industry, ensuring compliance with quality management and risk control procedures
