Job Summary
An experienced Design Engineer is required to join a well-established company specialising in the design, repair, replacement, and installation of equipment and full plant systems for the aggregates, recycling or similar sectors across the UK. This is a key role within the workshop production team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of projects from site measurements through to design, modelling, and fabrication drawings
Experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (with PDM) or Inventor Experience working in heavy construction or bulk handling industries (aggregates, recycling, etc.) Strong understanding of CDM regulations and design standards Proven ability to take accurate site measurements for large-scale projects Ability to convert AutoCAD designs into 3D models Comfortable working with large assemblies Degree/HND/HNC in Engineering (or equivalent) Full UK Driving Licence (clean)
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design phase of projects, from initial site measurements to fabrication drawings and procurement
- Produce GA (General Arrangement) and fabrication drawings in line with client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, British & European design standards, and relevant safety protocols
- Work closely with customers, Operations Managers, and key stakeholders to define project scopes and deliverables
- Oversee the checking and approval process for design deliverables
- Prepare cost estimates and quotations for project work
- Consider health & safety, quality, and environmental factors throughout the design and installation process
- Support project installations by being on-call for customers and fitters when required.
