Job Summary
Our client is a Veteran-Owned company specializing in mission-critical power distribution, data center, cooling, and monitoring solutions across Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. Founded in 2018, our client serves as a trusted partner, bridging the gap between end-users, engineers, contractors, and distributors and design end-to-end solutions tailored to meet each client’s unique operational needs.
Experience
Our client is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Mechanical Engineer to join their team and help grow their market presence. In this role, you will lead the design, specification, and application engineering of cooling systems — including CDUs, chillers, and associated infrastructure — ensuring optimal thermal management for modern data centers.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience designing mechanical HVAC or cooling solutions for data centers or mission-critical environments. Candidate will have experience with chillers, pumps, and liquid cooling systems (Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) highly desired). The ideal candidate shall also have proficiency in CAD tools, understand ASHRAE standards, piping/instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at technical trainings and client interactions.
This is a hybrid role in Ashburn, VA, being onsite as-needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering: Support mechnical engineers with the development of cooling system designs, piping/ instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and specifications for Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, and related components.
- Solution Development: Architect custom cooling configurations that optimize redundancy, energy efficiency, and modular scalability.
- Customer Collaboration: Engage with clients and OEM partners to understand technical requirements; prepare proposals, technical drawings, and detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Technical Presentations: Educate customers and internal stakeholders through technical training, design reviews, and whiteboard discussions.
- Application Support: Provide engineering support during bidding and early implementation phases; review design-build packages and support commissioning handover.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs align with industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA), electrical/mechanical codes, and internal quality processes.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with electrical, structural, and controls engineers to integrate comprehensive infrastructure solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies such as rack-based and liquid cooling, and propose enhancements to our product offerings.
