Telecoms Engineer – On site – Organisation Upgrade Project
Full-time, On-site | up to £450 per day
We’re hiring on behalf of our client for a Telecoms Engineer to support a multi-building telephony upgrade across a public sector organisation in central London. Within an agreed framework, you will assess where legacy telephones can be permanently removed and when they need to be replaced. You will then undertake any removal / installation work required to to support the transition to a Microsoft Teams-based telephony solution.
What you’ll do:
- Survey buildings to review legacy telephony, cabling, comms rooms and exchange areas.
- Identify upgrade requirements and propose solutions covering Teams Voice, structured cabling, physical infrastructure refresh and installation needs.
- Produce recommendations for Project Management approval, then build and allocate work plans for delivery teams.
- Work confidently with stakeholders at all levels Maintain accurate documentation, site-survey notes and progress logs.
- Use tools like Wireshark to identify network identity and port allocation.
- Support deployment, installation and cutover activity across multiple buildings.
What you’ll bring:
- Project experience of working in a large multi-site environment.
- Strong understanding of legacy telephony and associated physical exchange infrastructure.
- Knowledge ofCat5/Cat6 cabling, Krone frames, structured cabling standards and installation practices.
- Experience with Teams Voice migrations or similar telephony upgrade programmes.
- Comfortable conducting physical site surveys and coordinating upgrade activity.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good documentation discipline and familiarity with Wireshark or similar tools.
